My name is Lily Baslow, and I am a master’s student in psychology at The New School for Social Research in New York City. I work with the Center for Global Mental Health, under the supervision of Dr. Adam Brown. As part of my research methods coursework, I am conducting a pilot study to gather feedback on a new, self-directed version of Psychological First Aid (PFA), designed to help frontline staff recognize and respond to individuals experiencing psychological distress.

I am reaching out to invite staff members from community-based organizations serving justice-impacted communities to participate in this pilot study. The goal is to explore how relevant, accessible, and useful the training is for frontline workers, while gathering feedback to inform future improvements.

Who Can Participate?

I welcome participants in roles such as:

- Caseworkers

- Program coordinators

- Court advocates or liaisons

- Social workers

- Credible messengers

- Educators and teachers

Participants do not need prior experience with psychological first aid or formal mental health training. I am interested in learning from individuals with a range of professional backgrounds and levels of experience.

Participation includes:

- Completing an online, self-directed training that takes approximately one hour.

- Completing brief pre- and post-training surveys and quizzes, which take approximately 10 minutes.

- Completing a brief follow-up survey one week after the training to share additional feedback.

The training and accompanying surveys are free. Participation will help me understand how frontline staff experience the training, what aspects they find useful, and what changes may make it more relevant to their work.

As this pilot study is being conducted for a fall-semester research methods course, I ask that interested participants complete the training by November 25, 2026.

If this opportunity is of interest, please consider sharing the invitation through relevant staff announcements or listservs so that it can reach a broad range of community-based workers. Please fill out the google form listed above for more information.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration!
